RANGERS & PERSONNEL

1930's

1931

From 1931 to 1939 there were no Rangers in Baxter park. Roy Dudley was called a caretaker at Chimney Pond where he had been since 1920 or 1921, working for the Forestry Department. As caretaker for the Park he collected .25 fee per person for his salary. He also had dishes and blankets which he rented.

1939

Dick Holms (became our first Ranger) June 27 at Katahdin Stream. Roy Dudley still caretaker at Chimney Pond. Search for Donn Fendler started at Chimney Pond Monday night with over 200 men, July 17. Found in Stacyville July 25 on East Branch of Penobscot River. Note in register at Chimney Pond: September 9, 1939 PERCIVAL P. BAXTER, Portland. My fourth visit to Roy Dudley & Chimney Pond 1920, 1933, 1936, 1939 with great respect to Pamola and wishing his blessings for the year to come.

Followed by: Caleb W. Scribner Warden Supervisor Div. H.I.F.G. Patten, ME. Amen to above!
