Spring fishing starts April 1st; River fishing only at this time as the ice usually doesn't leave the lakes and ponds until around May 1st.
From ice out thru June offers peak fishing in rivers, lakes and ponds. July and August offer the fishermen better weather, less insects, and good fishing. September brings the fishing back to near spring conditions as the weather cools and the water follows suit. Much less fishing pressure in September, as the limit is decreased and is more sport fishing.
We are located on the East Branch of the Penobscot River and Matagamon Lake, with access to numerous walk-in trout ponds, many of which are located in Baxter State Park. There are also numerous streams, some easily accessible, while some require walking or canoeing to fish.
