Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument and Baxter State Park

Hare Bell at Pond Pitch

Bring your camera and join me for an exciting and wonderful day, taking photos in and around the wilderness of Baxter State Park and Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument. With the majestic Mt. Katahdin as a backdrop, you won't photograph scenery anymore spectacular in the Eastern United States.

Katahdin Woods and Waters National Monument is a U.S.
National Monument spanning 87,563 acres of mountains and wilderness in
the North Maine Woods area of north-central Maine, including a section
of the East Branch of the Penobscot River.

Mt Katahdin

Baxter State Park is a game preserve of over 200,000 acres, comprising
of many mountain peaks over 4000 feet, Mt Katahdin being a mile high. Also
there are numerous lakes, ponds streams and rivers, where an abundance of
wildlife
may be viewed.

Along with the wildlife, many rare and exotic wildflowers can be found. To view some of the flowers, visit my web page called Wildflowers of Baxter State Park.

Some other areas that might be of interest to photograph would be water falls, historical sites of the old logging era, Virgin timber sites, unusual geological formations, fire towers and lets not forget the many birds and waterfowl that inhabit the area.
